Panasonic's Acquisition of Sanyo Eneloop Means Lower Prices, More Availability

Hey, Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable battery lovers -- good news! In case you didn't know it, Panasonic bought up Sanyo in December of 2009. If you're like me, then you know that Sanyo has contributed little to the world of electronics -- they're kind of one of those companies that makes the cheap televisions and DVD players that they sell behind the customer service counter at a supermarket.

To be sure, Panasonic had little interest in Sanyo's sub-standard electronics; the real prize was the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable battery brand, which of course in the predominant brand in the rechargeable batteries industry.

Up until this acquisition, Sanyo eneloop has done little to match their robust marketing campaign for the Sanyo Eneloop. as a result, prices have remained high on Eneloops and availability a bit scarce. Well, all of that is going to change.

Thanks to Panasonic, the distribution lines for the Sanyo Eneloop brand are opening up. 2010 has already proven to be a year of lower prices and wider distribution for the rechargeable batteries giant, thanks to Panasonic's aggressive pitch to take Sanyo Eneloop to the next level.
